Since then a lot has changed and a lot is still the same. Some of it good and some bad and some of it neither here nor there. If that's not colloquial enough for you then I don't know what is. Why has it been so long since I last posted? Mostly laziness, since lack of subject matter would be an impossibility. I just lost Adam Brophyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12416283021699958605noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1703372815392604530.post-54508582447380827372013-09-27T14:29:00.002-04:002013-09-27T14:29:31.720-04:00Camping 2.0
The woods is where I had all of my adventures as a kid. Either blazing new trails or simply going to my favorite spots. I liked that it was quiet. I liked the idea of being nowhere and being somewhere at the same time. And I also liked the idea that while my parents knew where I was, they didn't know exactly where; it was mine and mine alone. It might sound like I must have done a lot of Adam Brophyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12416283021699958605noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1703372815392604530.post-58467009292411447862013-09-23T16:19:00.004-04:002013-09-23T16:19:56.724-04:00Huzzah To Fall!
Summer is over and that makes me happy. The cool weather of fall has returned and winter not far behind it. For me that means many things: beautiful cold morning runs, colorful foliage all around, aside from my runs I won't sweat, fall camping, driving with the windows down and of course school is back in session. What's not to love?
All summer long I have been looking for activities to Adam Brophyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12416283021699958605noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1703372815392604530.post-43225037900288532042013-08-29T17:08:00.002-04:002013-08-29T17:08:14.492-04:00Everybody I Know Hates Caillou
I never thought I would write about children's programming. I once made some comments on another stay at home Dad's blog about how I thought his review (which I later found was very tongue in cheek) of The Giving Tree was "asinine," that got me into some heated back and forth with the writer and which is why I still contend that I don't make bajillions of dollars through my site and have Adam Brophyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12416283021699958605noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1703372815392604530.post-91720515692056041792013-08-22T15:40:00.001-04:002013-08-22T15:40:29.024-04:00Someone Should Make a Reality TV Show About SAHDs...Oh...Wait...What? It's been near two months since my last post? To tell the truth, I have become a little consumed with Instagram and editing each picture. I've also spent a ton of time working on my photography site (www.craftedfocus.com), as well as second shooting my first wedding. Now that I write it out, it doesn't sound like a lot. But I assure you it felt like a million things at once.

I just returned from my SAHDcation (what I like to call my solo vacations) this year, all of which was spent in Asheville, North Carolina going on runs, walking around the city, enjoying the great breweries, sitting by the French Broad River reading, driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, eating amazing meals and generally getting lost in thought and sometimes the lack of. I recently posted a picture to Facebook of my car with my newly purchased Yakima Skybox on the roof. A friend from college, who had just had his first child, commented that this was the slow and inevitable death of cool (thanks for an entry title, Brendan). It wasn't a remark on what others think of you, but more what your younger self might think of you or at least that's how I took it. I don't know what it is about going to baseball games that always make me feel that I am participating in something much large than myself. That by going out to any game, be it tee-ball or a major league game, you are engaging with history. It's as if baseball is programmed into our DNA. The sight of a baseball stadium makes me smile. In a nutshell: I love Charleston, South Carolina.
But let me elaborate.
I first visited the city in the summer of 2000 with the Mrs, her family as well as some of our college friends. I don't think her folks knew what they were in for: several college kids, newly minted at the acceptable drinking age with a bevy of drinking games and fresh, thirsty livers on hand. They never even Adam Brophyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12416283021699958605noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1703372815392604530.post-18764590049273965432013-03-26T10:45:00.000-04:002013-03-26T10:45:01.343-04:00Insta-late
I make fun of the Mrs for always being late to the party. Not in the literal sense, as for actual parties she has this knack for making sure we are first, and not just first but sometimes awkwardly early. No, what she is late for is anything to do with popular culture outside of what's in her gossip mags, Dlisted or Gawker. There was no ticker tape parade. There were no high-fives or any smacks on the ass. The mail got delivered today, the Little Man's preschool was open and there are no known Burl Ives' songs released about this day. I also forgot all about it. It was just any other day.
Until yesterday.
